I assume you mean NFC championship, because they stand 0 chance of beating any of the good AFC teams even if they make it to the bowl. Which they do have a decent chance of doing I guess

They have to seriously tighten up their pass defense. Their secondary has horrible coverage (not counting the 3INT against Chicago last night).

If they are playing somebody with half a quarterback and a playmaker for receiver they are going to get destroyed.

If they don't buckle down, Indy and NE are going to light up the Dallas defensive backs.

Has Tony gotten any better at holding his balls? You would think he would have that mastered by now.

Well, so far he is 51/88 with 860 yards, 8 touchdowns (9 if you include the one he ran for), 2 interceptions, and an average rating of 111.9.

So you could say he's doing okay.

Cowboys look good. Romo reminds me of Kurt Warner the year he was abducted by Aliens.:)

We will see in week 6 when the Pats come to Dallas.

And the pass defense will improve greatly when Newman & Ellis return. Plus Tank Johnson will help the pass defense as well.

I dunno, I think the NFC is finally starting to show some sings of life.

People chalking things up already is pretty ridiculous. The last time everyone chalked a team up as a "sure thing" was the Colts to cruise all the way through supbowl 40, then the Steelers came out of nowhere from the 6th seed and won it. I think they could do it again or even it be a good NFC team, especially since just about everyone simply has their blinders on to everyone but NE or Indy.

I agree with vi_edit and this post by deeko speaks the truth as well. Our defense is lacking but once we get ellis and tank...it's all over baby.

But of course! I traveled down to Miami for the game last week and after the game all of the Cowboys fans were yelling it... It was great to be at a road game that had more fans than the home team!! LOL

QFT as well. Also a Lifelong Cowboys fan. Terrence Newman is essential to our pass D, and he will be back to full time duties soon. We will get a good measure of our worth against the AFC in week 5 vs NE.

Know what's funny? At this rate Anthony Henry will probably make the pro bowl, because people only vote based on interceptions, not talent...hence why Terrance Newman hasn't made it yet.

that is very true particularly of corners. the better the corner, the less the offense throw his direction and the less likely he is to get INT's, a very overrated stat as it seems more often than not a mistake by the offense more than a great play by the defender.

I think both NE and Indy are ridiculously overrated. Sure, the Patriots beat the living piss out of three teams so far, but none of those teams have proven they're any good. The Chargers win sure looked good... until we watched Green Bay beat them pretty handily too. Indy, IMO, is in the same boat.

That isn't to say either teams ISN'T good (any team with Brady or Manning in the backfield is going to be competitive), but I hate how people jump the gun three weeks into the season.

If the Patriots or Colts were to beat a team like Dallas or Pittsburgh handily, then we can start talking. Oh, and I'm a Pats fan.

edit: Grammar.

pats opponents are 2 - 7, colts opponents are 5-4

i would say they didn't have the exact same level of competition.

let's say it another way, colts opponents record not counting games vs colts, 5 - 1.

The Colts have earned their respect because they are the undefeated returning champs. They haven't lost since December, and unlike the Packers, that includes games played in January. The Pats, well, say what you will about the competition, but they've played 2 playoff teams from last year (even if neither seems that great this year) and 2 division games (even if neither is very good, every team is susceptible to lose a division game).

The Pats/Cowboys play in week 6, and then the Pats/Colts play in week 9. Those will be very telling games for all 3 teams. Meanwhile, the Steelers are actually in a pretty tough division, so we'll see their mettle tested against Baltimore and Cincinati.

I say it every year...its a long season gentlemen.
