:Q The temps seem high. Mine at load is around 55C, but I'm only pushing 3.3 at 1.35.

I'd try running your normal applications and games as well. I've had systems before that'd be Prime stable and not able to get through an hour in a game.

Oh i did.

how are you guys getting so high on such low volts?

my ram is loosen to 5 5 5 15 and i still can't get it stable with less then what it has now :(

any other factors that might affect me?

That would be because of ram.

temps are high, i dont think its worth it, there are diminishing returns with high OC's (LARGE bumps in voltage + LARGE inc in temps for 200-400mhz increase in speed.) The increased speed of those extra 200-400mhz won't yield much real world computing benefits but WILL give higher temps (esp when summer is coming up soon) and $$ on the power bill.

if i were you i'd drop down your voltages and OC to about 3.2-3.3ghz so u won't be getting temps in the 70's

btw, the max i got out of my cpu was 3.58ghz @ 1.375 in bios. i was heat limited tho as temps would hit 72C at load, but was prime stable for 24 hours

It is barely within the envelope, but.....

It is prime95 and it is unlikely his everyday apps will heat up to same temps....

I dont even think he would be seeing any throttling. I had to go up higher then that to get it to throttle.

I wouldn't accept those temps for myself, but I dont think it will die tomorrow, next week, this year, etc.

To OP:

What heatsink are you using?

The temps are higher than what I'd like, however they're perfectly safe. Your voltage isn't that bad either, I've seen some quads with a VID of 1.325v.

How much voltage are you giving your memory? May need a few more volts to go higher.

This is pretty dangerous. Tuniq Tower is about as good as it gets for air cooling... Do you have some good thermal paste on it?

Yes you are...

It is listed at 71c but actually it is this temp...

Thermal Specification: The thermal specification shown is the maximum case temperature at the maximum Thermal Design Power (TDP) value for that processor. It is measured at the geometric center on the topside of the processor integrated heat spreader. For processors without integrated heat spreaders such as mobile processors, the thermal specification is referred to as the junction temperature (Tj). The maximum junction temperature is defined by an activation of the processor Intel® Thermal Monitor. The Intel Thermal Monitor?s automatic mode is used to indicate that the maximum TJ has been reached.

NOT CORE TEMPERATURE....

Or what would commonly be called the tcase temp....For him to get this temp he would not look at coretemp but perhaps the bios temp or temp app that came with the mobo. MOst of those are horribly inaccurate with all sorts of calibration issues...

Tjunction for the quad core is like 100c I believe....he is safe...not advisable by most of us for the longterm...escpecialy with the onset of warmer months approaching...

Again to the op....I would look at getting a more powerful 80-100cfm 120mm fan....The stock tuniq fan sucks a bit IMHO.....I bet you can get that down to high 60's at least with an antec tri-cool on med to high
