A week ago, I worked from 9p to 6a, then I switched mid week to a 2p-10p shift. On the overnight shift, I ended up sleeping for 2 hours, then waking up and being wide awake for 2 years, then dead tired, then awake again. Repeat. Now, on the 2-10 shift, regardless of when I go to bed, I wake up at 0230 and stare at the ceiling until around 0600, then I fall asleep until noon. Bah!

Sounds like you need a new place of employment!

Benefits and pay are decent. And I promised a year in this dept before I tried to move anywhere. But, after the 1yr mark, I'm going to be looking at every single IT position that opens in other departments. These rotating shifts are messing me up badly. Screws with the mind.

I got it too. I usually wake about around 3am and can't sleep. Get the iPod and listen to Pandora or sound effects until 5am where I doze off until I have to get up at 6:30. Sucks.

I agree, Robin Williams trying to be edgy... Godawful!

This movie is my recommendation. ...and Trazadone.

The only time I was able to work shift work and sleep normally was when I was in the Navy, especially when I was on a ship. Once the lights were out it was as dark in my compartment at 1000 as it was at 2200.
