My shoes are getting a bit beat up but not enough to warrant a new pair. I work at a library now and I'm usually on my feet doing stuff the majority of the day. I think my feet and legs might feel better if I had some insoles.

Are they effective? If so, how much minimum would I have to spend to get a good pair? I looked at Walmart but didn't wanna purchase a say $4 pair that ends up being useless while OTOH the $10+ gel ones are too expensive for me unless they are very good.

Anyone have any comments on whether or not I should get gel ones? Also, don't they make it weird since your foot will be raised .5cm or so higher?

I am on my feet all day. I use the better ($5-10) insoles in my boots.
The most important factor is to start out with a GOOD pair of shoes/boots. I don't buy the Walmart boots, I get Red Wing ($150 +) or something similar.

I've been gelin for a few months now, very worth it.

I'm not nearly as grouchy at the end of the day. :D

--edit--
I'm talking about office/semi dress shoes I wear.

I can honestly say that good boots make all the difference in the world. If you wear them for a living. If you are a casual wearer, you may not notice the difference.
