Insane video!! Must see! GET IN HERE!

yeah, so most videos don't live up to the hype built up by their thread titles.

but this one? WHOA :Q. nice find

Also incredible that both ships had one unit HP left in the end. I bet he tried a few dozens of times before succeeded. It certainly requires some unique hand-eye coordination ability though.

Along with natural ability, it also takes practice. Reminds me of how Leonardo Da Vinci could write with both hands at the same time and in different languages...only this is a video game...

I have a 25 minute, 315MB video of someone beating it on maximum difficulty without dying. It is insane.

How do we know that the video matched the hands playing? Or that both hands belonged to the same person and not two different, similar people?

Other than that, still pretty cool.

any chance i could get that? id host it for Anandtech if you wouldn't mind sending it to me..

While that was certainly an impressive display of hand-eye coordination, I know nothing about the actual game. Anybody mind explaining the basics?

It basically is a scrolling shooter, as you can tell. The main idea has to do with the colors, black and white.

You can change your ship's color at any time.
When your ship is white, you can absorb shots from white enemies, and you do increased damage to black enemies.
When your ship is black, it's the opposite.
By absorbing shots, you build up energy, which you can release in the form of a bunch of missles.

Ikaruga is a very fun and challenging game for the Gamecube. 🙂
