Insane storm hit my area...

In case you didn't know or didn't care, I live in Newtown, PA which is about 45 minutes south of Philadelphia. Yesterday I had work from 2-9 and it was hot as all hell (something like 104) and the weatherman on my local news said that there was a slight (20%) chance of rain and a passing thunderstorm. Well, he was right.... but not really.

We got rain alright, torrential rain with wind gusts up to 50mph. I was driving home going about 20mph the whole and not being able to see more than 5 feet in front of me. I think I dodged about 4 downed trees and 2 downed power lines. Oh, and power outtages? We got those too. Power outtages in a HUGE radius of Philadelphia. Just about all the traffic lights in my small 5 mile commute were out, which made for more fun. The power was out from about 8:30PM to 1:00PM the next day, and I got away lucky. At the origin of the original power outtages, there were somewhere around 450,000 homes without power... the worst outtage in PECO history. At 1:00PM today (when my power came back) there were still about 275,000 homes without power and some are not expected to get it back until the weekend.

So in conclusion, the weather went from "Sunny with a slight chance of rain in the afternoon" to torrential rain with 50mph wind gusts and severe power outtages. Goof fvcking game weatherman. /rant

EDIT: I was wrong, predicting the weather is quite difficult apparently. I really had no idea with all the fancy equipment and technology and such... Well my rant is moot then, but still a good story anyhow 😛

storms that build up throughout the day due to heat and humidity can vary extremely in intensity, and sometimes don't build at all. thats what it sounds like may have happened. i didn't see radar shots so i have no clue.
what helps us to know.. what channel did you watch? like, ABC, CBS, FOX, the weather channel.. etc etc

do you know anything about predicting weather? it ain't easy. Countless supercomputers churn so many variables your simpleton mind can't begin to comprehend it. Rant about something people have control over next time.

why don't you just rant about how God just had to make it so hard to predict the weather. Apparently he likes it that way, he doesn't want you to see that storm he came up with coming.

what if the weatherman predicted a big storm, what would you have done differently? thats right! you wouldn't have done anything differently, you would have ignored him, like I should have ignored this post.

Wow, why don't you take that stick out of your ass? I really had no idea that predicting weather was so difficult, the weathermen make it look easy with all of the technology and resources and when I watch the weather I don't really think about what goes on behind the scenes. However, if you stop PMSing for a second and read my post, you might notice some sarcasm.
