Insane printer slowdowns!

OK I have Duron 950MHz, A7V, W2k and an HP deskjet 710C.

When printing anything (be it simple text or complex graphics) my system slows to a crawl.

Any ideas?

I had the same problem with my HP 970. Turned my 933 MHz screamer into a 386. I checked the newsgroups and it was a common complaint. The fix was to change from parallel port to USB. Worked like a charm. I dont know if this helps you, but I thought I'd throw it out.

Go look in your bios,you probably have it set to SPP,change it to ECP and i should fix your speed problems.

Thanks for the tip. At the moment it's set to "EPP+ECP" with the other two options being "ECP" and "EPP".

Will try the others now.
