Looking to build a cheapish media centre PC. It'll be used for watching and recording TV, playback of h.246, surfing and for the kids to play around on. I'm basing this build mostly on this article. Never built an HTPC or AMD before so I'm a little unsure. I'd like to keep it around the £400 mark.
So far I have:
AMD Phenom II X3 710 2.6GHz Socket AM3 6MB L3 Cache Retail Boxed Processor £102.88
ASUS M3N78-EM GeForce 8300 Socket AM2+ VGA DVI HDMI 8-channel Audio MATX £60.58
OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 800Mhz/PC2-6400 GOLD XTC Memory Kit CL5(5-5-5-18) £39.99
Samsung SpinPoint F1 HD103UJ 1TB Hard Drive SATAII £69.99
SilverStone LASCALA LC17B Black Aluminium Desktop ATX Media Center Case - No PSU £68.79
Logitech Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Desktop EX 110 - USB/PS2 £20.31
Arctic Power 500W PSU With PCI-E 2x SATA, 20+4 ATX12V 8pin +12V Connectors £28.98
LG GH22NS40 22X SATA DVD±RW/DL/RAM Black Bare Drive £15.99
Total: £407.51
I already have a PCI tuner card and HDTV.
Like I say, I'm just basing this mostly on the article suggestions since I've never built this kind of system so it's possible I can do better on budget. Any suggestions welcomed and thanks in advance.
