I am is thing of building a low end HTPC, came across this auction.
AMD PRO 2800+ CPU +ECS M.BOARD/SND/LAN/64VID

I guess it is ECS board with a AMD® Athlon XP CPU Pro 2800+ on board proccessor. The WTH is that. Sound like it is built in. Everheard of this board they have a solid ebay rating. Well I emailed the seller, but have the time seller never email back. I ask the seller for the model number on the board.

I love this site and everyone is fantastic. Especially when I have OC problems. I would really appreacaite some input. What do you think. Thank ahead of time. Please leave

The cpu is actually soldered directly to the board,no socket so you cant ever upgrade the cpu on that board.

I have an older version of them around here & it's got a 850mhz duron in it,overall it works great but no upgradabilty whatsoever.

I've never seen this board, but I'm seen similar SiS-based boards from ECS with integrated CPU.

Those boards did not have a real Athlon integrated, but it was a Duron with an inflated XP rating. Might be something to look out for.

Looks like a L7VMM3 to me.

Thanks alot, yeah after I got the model # a google search showed the processor was a mobile athlon xp 1600. It is for a htpc so 1600 should be plenty good. I don't want it to get too hot.

That numbering system is a joke. Tryin screw normal people over I guess. I don't think the sound would be good enough though.

For the record:

Pro2800+ = Athlon XP 1600+ (1400 Mhz) (ECS/PCChips Branded MB)
Pro2700+ = Athlon XP 1500+ (1333 Mhz) (Amptron Motherboards)
Pro2300+ = Athlon 1300 mhz
Pro2200+ = Athlon 1200 Mhz

Yes they really screw people up,I have a 800 Duron (took off the sink & looked) that's overclock BY ECS to 863mhz and at post it says it's a 1200+. 😕:disgust:

It's a good thing I got if for free or I would have been pissed !!

Would a mobile processor be a real good thing? I found this site on google there are alot of relate threads. Reading most of threads the opinions/exprecience seem to suggest that these processors are somewhat unique are made specially for these boards. At least that is my understanding.

pro2800+

Mobile processors are better as they have lower voltages and run cooler. They are also generally more expensive. They're speciality CPUs, but they run the same.
