Now that was a pretty good read, and the use of high speed cameras is always intriguing.
The magical 100ms number makes sense to me. I know when gaming online (mainly in Counter-Strike as I'm most familiar with its hit detection), around 100ms ping to the server is when I start to notice delays with the action on-screen (not necessarily the action from me to my computer), such as I have to aim ahead of a person to get a registered shot or I'll kill someone when I normally wouldn't. Usually anything over 120ms starts to become really unplayable, and anything under 90ms is pretty ideal for me.
