Inkjet Printers, print when color is empty

Just throwing this out there if anyone knows.

But are there any inkjet multi-function printers that will still allow you to print even if you run out of color?

This is just a general question for something for me to keep in mind if I have customers ask

Some current models allow for that. I think most Canon inkjets using cartridges with non-permanent printheads will still print black with the color cartridge bone dry as long as its still in the printer. And there is an override to keep using the black cartridge with refills. There are other workarounds like covering up the sensor or manually resetting cartridges across the different makes and models.
