Inkjet/Laser Printer Recommendations

I just got my wife a laptop for college. She's about to move out to attend a graduate school and needs a printer for her dorm room. I just need some general recommendations.

I've got a Canon i3000 inkjet that's doing great, but I considered getting her a Dell 1110 personal laser printer to save on cartridge costs. A refurb can be had for $60, but I know nothing of how good they work. She just needs it for printing occasional papers and any other printer type stuff. No colors. Would that be the cheapest route, or should I consider an inkjet or another entry laser? Thanks,

I bought the Samsung ML-2510 a few months ago for $50us after a coupon and rebate (Rebate came pretty fast). They pop up all the time for $60 AR. I have found it to be very serviceable. It is pretty fast, even small fonts are legible, and scanners read bar codes printed with it every time.

Get yourself a four color refill kit from hobbicolors---just enter hobbicolors on the ebay search bar----and start printing black for less than a half penny a page---and mixed color for
less than a penny. Because your ip3000 is a non-chipped Canon---its the no hassle solution and its super easy to refill your BCI-3eBK cartridge in less than a few minutes.

A $20.00 kit will come with enough ink to print at least 3000 pages---and another $10.00 of ink will do 3000 more. And its ink specifically blended for your computer and will not give you any problems---I have been using such kits in my non-chipped Canons for over a year now.---and others for far longer than that.

And even less hassle solution is prefilled replacement 3'rd party cartridges---at just $2. to $4. a pop for BCI-3eKB, they will cost a lot less than Canon OEM.
