So I just shelled out $60 for a new HP cartridge (#78, or C6578A), and was thinkin, why don't I try this refill stuff? I browsed through the archives...and people warn about spilling ink. I think I can get over that. But, how about the quality? I have an HP 930C, and I do some photo printing every now and then (w/ photo paper and all), and I'm wondering how the quality would be. Are there any sites that do a side by side comparison? Or maybe we can bug Anand to do one? :) Any info would be appreciated!

I have only tried messing aroung with refillable ink cartridges only ONCE but it was enough for me to not try again. I drilled the holes in the way the instructions said but for some reason they all mixed up and I had basically one ugly color. Then after a day it leaked all over the inside of my printer. Plus, i hear you can only refill 3-4 time before the cartidge is useless. This was a long time ago, maybe the technology or products are better. I should try again because it is so damn exspensive replaceing these damn things!. My next printer is definately going to be one that has seperate color cartridges.

I have been refilling a Epson Printer cartridges for well over 2 years. I haven't has any problems at all. The first one was the hardest to do, and the messiest, but I have the procedure down now. I am happy with the color results also, my refill inks look just like the originals, except at a fraction of the cost.

Your printer results may vary, so I can't comment if the ink you are using matches the orginal color.

Be careful of what you buy, cheap inks will cause havoc, I fried my old canon printer that way, had to replace the head and it was to costly.

Brands do differ with this stuff. You're lucky you've got an HP, they're some of the easiest ones to refill. I had a lexmark once, and the real ink was thin as water, so any time you'd refill it it would clog the printhead in no time. I've got a 932 myself, and while I've never filled the color cartridge, I've done the black a few times and it's worked fine. I'd guess color would be much more difficult to fill, and that the ink would have to be of high quality to give good results
