Ok guys, I jumped on the fry's deal for the i960 ($179 not including $30 MIR). This was only a slight mistake as newegg has the exact same deal and I could have saved gas and tax cost... oh well. Anyway, to say the least I am very impressed with the quality of prints. I have a cheap laser for text, a free after rebate lexmark for text+graphics, and I got this just for photos and it blew me away. Then I tried the photo paper pro in it... man, the differnce is amazing, paper can totally change the look...

Anyway, enough raving, I was curious about refills for this. My dad has the i850 and got this $17 kit at costco he usues to refill his tanks. He seems to have good luck with it but I am curious how this will effect the picture quality of my photos. I wanted any and all suggestions on refills and/or cheap places to get the actual canon refills. I will be doing mostly scrap book and random photos with this (probably costco or seattle filmworks for large quantities of photos, dunno yet).

Thanks for any help you can offer and if anyone is looking for a new photo printer then I highly reccomend this printer, freaking beautiful prints, fast, and quiet to boot.

If you want the best print quality, it is usually a good idea to buy the ink from Canon. The other ink is okay for normal stuff, but for photos the genuine ink is better.

I use the $17 kit from Costco and get great results. Ink is ink IMO, but that's just my opinion and I'm sure I'll get flamed for it. :p

All right guys, thanks for the replys. I am finding the official refills at like $9 or so, not bad especially since each tank is 13ml. HP 3 color tanks hold a TOTAL of 17ml... suckers. ;)

I also love my i960! I had several guys from the Canon G3/G5 forum tells me that they have printed between 50-75 8x10's before running out of ink. So.....even at the highest quality setting the ink is not used up quickly. Plus, as you posted, the replacement cost is not that bad. What a deal, thanks Canon!
