Hey Guys, just installed a new cartridge in my HP930c and the hue has a slight magenta effect to it. It's the same number cartridge, but I can't figure out why its not solid black as before. (unless they degraded the cartridge quality) Any thoughts?

Stupid question, but did you make sure you put the cartidge in the correct slot? I'm sure you did, but gotta ask...

Try cleaning your print heads. There is probably a utility included with the HP software to do this, but if not, run a few test print pages to see if the problem cleans up. It's probably just a dirty nozzle that will correct itself after you print a few times.

altonb1: going to try cleaning the print heads, although I'm still perplexed at how replacing a black cartridge with another black cartridge would yeild anything other than black. Cartridge is in the correct location as the color cartridge is still loaded alongside it. BTW I've made 50+ copies and still getting the magenta hue.

Did you install the new black cartridge before the previous one ran out completely? If not, the magenta may have seeped into the black's print head and caused the discoloration. did you use one of those inkjet refill kits for magenta recently? You may have overfilled that cartridge and it is seeping. In either case, cleaning the print heads might fix it, but if you have printed 50 pages already, i don't think cleaning the print head will help, either. It may just be a bad cartridge. If it is an HP branded cartridge, you can try contacting them directly or just attempt to return the cartidge to your place of purchase for an exchange. If it is 3rd party, I would think it probably is a problem with the ink used by that company. You can contact them directly, too, or chalk it up to a bad investment and replace the cartridge again.

I thought the other cartridge was dry-firing, so I replaced it. I have never used an ink refill kit. I think the cartridge may be faulty also and I will probably have to replace it. Thanks again
