Man, I joined a foreign "dating site"... Its so different from the american dating sites. I have a profile on plentyoffish.. I ususally dont' get a lot of replies at all - but them I'm not very active on their forums.. On the foreign ones, I've had at least 100 replies.. and that within the last 48 hrs that I joined... weird..

also, are you sure....... the 100 replies isn't spam? 'cuz I know that society is getting "REALLY" good at making forwarded e-mail sound like they're personal.

Actually, it was a few days ago that I joined the dating site.. her mom is also on this site (she is divorced)... apparently she saw my profile and decided that her daughter might be a good match for me; hence her emailing me.

So.. yea... its kinda bad because with so many women sending me their profiles (most if not all of them real - IMHO), I feel bad because I'm basically skipping profiles based mostly on looks. Its so different from the american sites.

Actually, people might of remembered, I once posted a personal on craigslist a while back. I had like 2-3 replies... then being really bored, I posted as a girl... I had so many replies.. probalby over 200 after it was all done and said...

With all the replies I'm getting on the foreign site, its almost a complete reversal... yea, so it may not be astonishing to people.. but dude, its really astonishing to me... Green card or not ;-P

I don't think they're necessarily looking for a green card, but for what some consider a good life here in America (of course not everyone lives a good life, but as long as people remain truthful on these sites, you can find people with decent jobs, etc.)

I wouldn't mind a foreign wife as most foreign (Asian) women I've spoke to are quite respectful and nice, something I really do cater toward.

EDIT: I never had the previous message submit properly.. stupid Internet here, so I'll remove that part from this one and live with an embarrassing double post .

You are their ticket out, plain and simple. Not saying the marriages never work but realize you are being used from the beginning.

They're not spam - IMHO. I have relatives in thailand and I know a lot about their culture. They say things that are very personalized. On my profile, I listed that I was thai issan.. they knew what that meant and "ran with it"..

Yea, being from SE asia, I guess I shouldn't be surprised at the level of interest.. but for some reason, I am... In any case, because I'm skipping profiles based mostly on looks... dude, I'm afraid karmas going to bite me in the ass... probably will... :-(

Well yeah, I know that. What I'm trying to say is that just because they want to live here doesn't mean that they are only using you. Some may... I don't know any numbers nor would I want to make any up.

Purely out of curiosity (I am in no means looking) what sites are you using for these?

Additionally, as far as beautiful Asian women go she ranks probably a 6 to high 7 on the average scale. If you are skipping tons of profiles and this is the one you show it's possible there are tons of dogs on that site.. which really doesn't make it much different from myspace where it's fakeprofile-fakeprofile-fakeprofile-semiattractivegirl-fat chick-fat chick-fakeprofile-fakeprofile, rinse repeat.

Well... beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Most Asians place a much higher value on being light-skinned than most Americans/Western Europeans. If the OP is Asian, the fact that she's light-skinned might be enough to make her beautiful to him.

Why do you have your profile disabled?

I'd like to meet some women from SE Asia too. I'm a VBC (Vietnam-born Chinese) who left in 1988 and haven't been back since. From my experience, I've found that the typical American woman usually angry towards men or have some sort of self-esteem issue which is exhibited by the "I am super independent/don't need a man"-attitude (when in reality, they are hurting on the inside but are too proud to admit it).

Most women I've seen on dating websites are either crazy, pregnant or have children. There are a few cool people that I've met, but it's not common. Then you get people who don't post pictures at all and don't realize that most people will skip over profiles without decent pictures.

Internet dating really is as annoying as normal dating at times.

Wow, looks like you done it all. Right now, just starting to look at all my options. Most of my friends are married/getting married. I'm 31 (but people tell me I look arround early 20's)...

So far dating in REAL LIFE is kinda annoying. Maybe its because I'm dating women who are in their early 20's; I usually don't like to date girls my age - imho, even though they are not as cute as they use to be, they expect alot... if the girls are going to be a challenge and demanding, minus well chase the younger ones.. hehehehe..

I'll probably be in SE asia again this winter. If I do find someone interesting, it might be fun to meet them in REAL LIFE... never done that before.

Well, I've done a decent amount of online dating as I'm not a huge fan of most scenes and I don't really have any hobbies that bring me out to places where I can meet people. So looking around online was probably my best option. I still think that as long as online dating hopefuls are truthful, it can be a great system, but you get things that I mentioned before... such as horrible pictures, old pictures (i.e. when they were skinny, etc), Nigerian scammers (met a couple of these so far, I like playing with them ).

A lot of these people also seem to be damaged goods. They've been treated like crap by some if not all of their exes, they don't live a great life or they're poor. No offense to people who don't make a lot (I'm not rich or anything and I grew up in a relatively poor family), but I find a lot of them that are on here really just want people for security and they find love in security. Like there's this one girl who keeps trying to date me, and I simply won't do it. She's a good example of the type I mentioned above... not rich (I make more in a week than her parents make in a month) and literally told me, "you have a car, a job and a place... you're established" and later spouted off crap about wanting to marry me. Well, that's where I draw the proverbial line!

It makes me understand why that one guy created that dating service only for "hot" people.

It's also kind of annoying when you run into people who cannot drive for whatever reason. The girl I mentioned above told me it's too expensive to get a license . I am not a chauffeur and refuse to be someone's personal roaming enjoyment service.

I know a couple girls from various Asian countries that I've met mostly in my scanlating and fansubbing days. They're very nice to talk to and quite respectable. That's more of the type of person I'd be looking for.
