Hello all, Thanks for being here and Happy Thanksgiving.

I'm having trouble getting my board to initialize.
New board "IWILL K7S3-N
New processor "AMD 2400 266fsb
New Memory "SimpleTech PC2100 256 , 1, 2, or 3 sticks.

This is the second board, the second processor and now the second set of memory sticks.
Oh and new Antec case.

I must be doing something really stupid as I can't get the board to initialize.
I have power, system fans are running, but I get nothing on screen, no initialization of the monitor.
The switches on the front of the case work to shut it off and on.

I've tried resetting the BIOS.
Going from one stick of memory to three.
Setup with no drives,no floppies, no CD
I'm thinking that at least with just power to the board I should at least be able to get to the BIOS screen????

TIA

Since you have replaced mb, processor and memory, I think we can rule those out. Could be a bad PSU. Might also be that you are somehow shorting out the mb or not connecting the power correctly. Last, what are you doing for video?

I'm using a Radeon 8500le AGP. My thoughts after installing the board was a bad PSU. But I upgraded that.
Unfortunately for me. I had originally purchased a Shuttle board/ AMD processor combo for $130.00 Seemed like a deal.
Tha rulled out porcessor and switched boards to a LANPARTY same processor. Same problem.
Then switched out processor. Same problem.
The switched out Board and memory Same problem. Switched out board last night Same Problem.
The Tech at the store said that a bad processor or board could cause the other no to function.
So right now I'm going to switch out both the processor and the board.

ANY other idea's

Thanks for the quick reply

Peace.
Happy Thanksgiving.

Have you tried minimal setup with the mobo outside (not installed) case to rule out shorting the mobo? That is, set mobo on cardboard or phonebook next to the case (BUT NOT TOUCHING) then install cpu/hs/fan, one stick of ram and the gfx card (you can plug it into monitor). Attach the two power connectors (the atx next to the mobo and the power switch connector elsewhere on the mobo). See if it will POST. Listen for the beep codes if it won't POST to help trouble shoot. If all goes well connect the HD and try again. If all goes well mount the mobo in the case. Get it to post and then start adding PCI cards one at a time til ur finished. Good luck.

PS make sure you're grounded and have the psu unplugged when adding or removing components.

Thanks for the help guys.
After all the trouble, I'll never know what was wrong.
I went today swapped out MB, CPU and RAM for three new components that have never shared anything about each other.

That cured the problem.
New MB GIGABYTE GA-7N400 pro 2
AMD ANTHLON 2400 266 fsb
Cinton Ram PC2100 256.

So far all is well

THANKS A BUNCH
Neil
