initial boot - no keys

I'm booting my newly built pc for the first time, but I don't think the keyboard is connecting. My caps-lock and numLock keys do not light, so I can't hit DEL to get into my Bios.

any suggestions?

Is there a keyboard error when you boot up?

Make sure it's in the right port. It's easy to confuse it with the mouse port, since they are both the same.
