OU need to be wary of their back to back road games at Stillwater and College Station. They are so beat up right now, and in all likelyhood will continue to be beat up that they will lose one of the two.

the big 12 is a very tough conference. especially the south conf.

Utes are 7th, only .0004 points behind Wisconsin for the 6th and last automatic BCS bowl bid.

Go Utes. 🙂

That's right. Go Utes. Their average margin of victory has been 24 points. (i know they don't play a tough schedule) but they KILLED Texas A&M though. They also have AWESOME tailgate parties (for a smaller conference school)

Ute fan here <---------------

I honestly dont know why Utah is ranked so high. Sure they are undefeated and they slaughtered A&M during the first game but A&M was unranked and so have all of their other opponents. Utah wont remain undeafeted. IMHO only Miami will remain undefeated through the regular season.

At this point in the season A&M would likely slaughter Utah.

yeah right. Utah owned them in every way. It was 41-21 with A&m scoring a last minute TD in Garbage time. It should of been 41-14. It was 27-0 at one point. Why would A&M slaughter them now? And who Is going to beat Utah? I know they haven't had a hard schedule though.

Utah will remain undefeated. I believe all they have left are conference games. Who's going to beat them? BYU?

Sat 10/23/2004 UNLV * Salt Lake City, Utah
Sat 10/30/2004 San Diego St * San Diego, Calif.
Sat 11/06/2004 Colorado St * Salt Lake City, Utah
Sat 11/13/2004 Wyoming * Laramie, Wyo.
Sat 11/20/2004 BYU * Salt Lake City, Utah

That is the same thing said about Fresno State a couple years ago. Lost big to Hawaii. Even BYU fans said that not too long ago. Lost right at the end to a much worse team. They just can't get past their excitement and they always lose in the end.

They need to put strength of schedule back into it.
From a mathematical standpoint, the entire system is flawed. One specific portion of the equation (if it could even be deemed that) removed or added will not make a significant difference. Most of the data is human opinion - just averaged.

Unfortunately, the press and Joe Average NCAA football fan believe the system is far more complex than it is in reality.

i really don't know what is worse than a huge sports nerd.

I don't think Urban will let that happen.

I think the only thing that could stop them would be an injury.

once miami gets back into 3rd in the ap poll they'll lead OU by even more...

but not nearly as much as they would have last year. Since they take into account how many points each team has in the polls, Miami could get the 31 points they need to pass Auburn, and they'd only gain .0062 points in the BCS.

Using the formula from last year:
#1 USC 2.12
#2 Miami 4.86
#3 Oklahoma 6.70
#4 Auburn 7.28
#5 FSU 11.48
#6 Utah 15.78
#7 Wisconsin 17.70
#8 Tennessee 20.04
#9 Cal 20.14
#10 Texas 22.94
#11 Georgia 23.28
#12 Purdue 28.72

5 teams can go undefeated...i hope it happens!

I count 7 undefeated, and I think all 7 can go undefeated.

Auburn
Boise St.
Miami
Oklahoma
USC
Utah
Wisconsin

I don't think all 7 will go undefeated. The only two that have an excellent shot at it are USC and Utah. Too bad for SC that the crappy play of the Pac-10 this year will most likely drop their computer average slightly, but not enough to drop them out of #1. I have a feeling, under the old system, that SC's SOS could drop them to #3 if there were 3 major conference unbeatens. They might have the 3rd best SOS now, but there are still games against 1-5 UW, 2-4 OSU, 1-5 UA, and 3-3 WSU. Only two winning records left, UCLA 4-2 and ND 5-2. It should be interesting to see who stays unbeaten, and how the polls and BCS go.

Wisconsin's big test will be the last week of the season in Iowa City at Kinnick against the Hawks...

Kinnick is no easy place to play anymore, if the Hawks had a running game they might be pretty damn good right now.

USC's projected SOS is 30th. That's behind Oklahoma (8th) and Miami (22nd). They would be ahead of the 4 other unbeaten teams.

As long as Cal and Arizona St finish with 1 and 2 losses (to USC and 1 to the other), USC will be sitting pretty well. At least one if not both would be in the top 10 of the BCS computers. Virginia Tech and Notre Dame winning will help a lot too, but aren't as important as Cal and AZstate.
