Ingrown tonails suck

so i had the doctor take care of this same toe about 8 months ago, same pronblem, now it's back, and it seems infected. I took it upon myself to do a bit of surgury tonight with a screwdriver and a pair of needle nose plyers. i ripped a fairly decent section of nail down the side where it is inflamed.....then i put iodine underneith.
WOW this mother-f***** stings.....i hope it's worth it and there will be less pressure tomorrow. it really is gnarly lookin'......gah i geuss i'll make another appointment...

I took care of my last ingrown toe nail myself. A needlenose pliers, Zippo lighter, and a pocket knife. Oh, and iodine.

I had one that got infected before, after I tried to cut it out. The doctor I went to advised me to let it "grow out". Hurt like crazy until it did.

This procedure was suggested by someone else here on ATOT:
In toenails which tend to produce hangnails:
Don't trim the whole nail down, but leave a little toenail remaining;
and cut a small "V" notch in the center.
After several weeks, the toenail will gradually re-shape, amd the hangnail will start to reduce itself.
The original poster (don't recall who?) said that some high-school
wrestling coach had originally told him of this "cure".
Good luck...

If you have several ingrown nails on the same toe, you may have to have the nail trimmed and the roots burnout.

I had this before.. they can remove the edge of the part that the nail grows so it doesn't return.. i had it on both my big toe .. was really weird.. my dr was cashing in on me.. multi returns.

Yep, had that procedure done on both of my big toes. It's been about 9 months, and not a problem since. Cheap, fast, and pain-free (except for the damn numbing shots in your toes).

senior year in highschool during foot ball season. The infections had gotten so bad that both big toes were swollen and oozing. I soaked them in epsom salts twice daily. After the surger everything has been fine since.

oh god...that is nasty. Just go to a foot doctor! They will cut it out no problem (novacaine included😉) Worked for me! 🙂
