Inglorious fruits and vegtables

I like how the food is throw away garbage, and the point is "to help poor people"...so they sell it at full retail sale price ("30%" off).

LOL what a joke.

Obviously they don't give a s**t at all about the poor and this was just another rape people for their money. Use dirty tactics and false advertising to make people "feel good" about it.

Time to buy some stock.

I never understood pricing in stores on produce.

They'll sell oranges, for example, for $1 each, and 3/4 of them never get sold, then they end up throwing them away. Why don't they sell them for .40 each and sell nearly all of them? They would make more profit and there would be less waste.

Only thing to understand is they don't care about waste. They care about maximum profits. This applies to everything, not just non perishables.

They always have that stuff geared...they charge full price for so many days, then run a sale a few days later when they have to start moving something....then they move them to clearance pricing. They try to snag as many suckers as they can right off the bat and in the first few days, a lot of the produce still isn't ripe yet.

Their goal is to sell 50% of their produce with 100% markup before they have to start discounting....sure they have spoilage, but the nature of their game is to sell it while it still has a value.

It's not about helping the poor but reduce food waste.

What a great opportunity. That is, for people to ring up the expensive fruits and vegetables in the self-service checkouts, while using the cheaper inglorious product codes (you know, just like people do with organics.)

However, if these f&v's are actually thrown out, that's an awesome plan. Instead, I thought these imperfections were sold to food processors as opposed to the fruit and vegetable aisles. And any horrendous-looking leftovers that weren't sold to processors were sold to Monsanto, so they could be used in presentations for what potential customers would get if they don't buy their expensive GMO seeds.
