So I have been dating this girl for about 2 and a half years and the time is probably coming that I will be asking her to marry me. However, I want the proposal to be amazing and completely original. I won't be doing it for some time yet, but I was just sitting at work thinking about it and was hoping you guys could help me out with some ideas. thanks

This is true. However if I take an idea and modify it and make it better, then it still has the potential to be completely original
Go to a sex store and get a c&^% ring and be like "Hey, I got this really cool ring I want you to try on me and see if you like it. Go for it with her. The next day be like "hey I got this really cool ring and I wanted to try it on you and see if you like it." She'll think it's another sex toy then you bust out the goods. It may not be the most romantic but she'll be REALLY suprised and I bet NO ONE has done that before!
3 weeks ago my friend Mike was also looking for an ingenious proposal idea, but the power of 3 combined male brains couldn't think up anything clever.
So it was a Saturday morning and Mike and his gf get up (she has to get to work) but when she wakes she finds a printout of a map + directions on how to get to Green Lakes (Mike wanted to propose to her while on a picnic/trail hike). She asks Mike what was it for, but it was suppose to be a surprise picnic outing so that plan was killed. The gf was very persistant and breaks down because Mike won't tell her and she's hurt that he won't tell her the truth. Mike starts to laugh due to the irony of the situation but she doesn't think it too funny and begins to cry and doesn't pay attention to Mike.
Mike pokes at her and tells her this is something she's gotta see, and boom, 1 knee marriage proposal.
Weird start, but happy ending if you ask me.
Get her piping mad, then propose :laugh:

You can always find a neat way based on any travel you might be doing. I proposed when we were on vacatino in Hawaii. Did the Road to Hana and at the end we were climbing on some rocks up by a waterfall and it was the perfect place.
So, if you have any vacatiosn planned or anything like that, you can always do some research ahead of time and pick a good place.
Or if she really likes anything like a certain sports team or certain restaurant or whatever, you can always get in with them and work something out.

Here's what my friend did.
His GF worked on the 12th floor of a high-rise in Manhattan. They were building a building next door. He paid the guy working the cherry picker $50 to bring him up to the window where she worked. He knocked on the window from the outside holding a dozen roses. Her entire office freaked out.

My cousin did this one that I never heard of:

He went to a professional photographer and set it up with him saying he was going to propose sometime during the photo session and the photographer was to keep going with taking photos. It was a nice romantic setting and they now have pictures of him popping the question, her accepting, and crying, etc. ... who has pictures of the whole before and after of the proposal? Excellent idea!
