... and then buried it again.

So I went outside, dug it up, spliced it back together and it works. (faster than ever)

(I had to take action, the cable company said they couldn't come and fix it until Tuesday. :|)

Well, i just crimped two connectors on the cut ends of the wire and then used a female-female connector in the middle to join the two ends together. I then put a kink in the wire so that it wouldn't touch the dirt and ground itself.

Very true, and I totally saw it coming. Any type of construction workers + backhoe = cut wires. :|

I just used some parts that I had laying around from back when I installed my satellite dish.

I think it is splitters and amplifiers that cause problems for the cable modem... I can't see how a simple connector would degrade the signal?
