ING Direct > PNC Bank

PNC Bank just called and asked me some questions to determine how they could better serve me. I wasn't really doing anything at the time, so I humored them. Over the course of our conversation he asked about savings accounts

Him: I see you have a checking account with us but not a savings account, can I ask why you don't have a savings account with us?
Me: I use ING Direct
Him: And may I ask why you chose ING Direct over us?
Me: They have a better interest rate
Him: And what rate is that?
Me: 3.8%
Him: Woah... that's good... that's really good... woah...

😀

You'd think they'd be familiar with ING's rates. 😕

It's 4.75% on new balance transfers only, and that will supposedly end in April.

Only on new deposits, and I'm actually pulling money out of ING to put in mutual funds, not adding any to ING. 🙂
