tempted to replace some cameras i have with infrared web-cams that upload over internet. whats best program since jaxcam seems to be gone. Also what is longest cable i can use. Sorry for lame questions. Also cheap webcam suggestions be nice but not as important.

USB can go about 30 ft. Though you may need to put a powered USB hub in the middle some where otherwise the camera may not get enough power.

Real IR requires cryogenic cooling of the sensor. You must be talking about near IR. BTW - what is the objective of this quest?

near ir // ir what ever.. i want to take pics with webcam and send them via email to me while im gone as a security kinda cam.. or take video etc.. i have shit loads of hd's and currently have SD motion capture with camera but what if they just steal the camera too hehe thats why i want webcam type with uploading pictures.. of course if they wear masks it wont help alot but still will help some..

You can buy wireless camera security systems if that what you want to do. I saw one not to long ago that came with 3 cameras. The cameras ran all the time, and were even heat sensitive. Also they came with their own reciever that you could log into anytime you wanted with a internet connection including a phone. Also you could even move the camera around (even with a phone) remotely.
