ORIGINALLY FROM www.rage3d.com

I bugged my dad to bring home the $60K Infrared camera from work to take some pics of my Radeon 9700 Pro AIW. It has been running really hot and I am just shocked to find out how hot it really is. The camera is made by FLIR, a professional industry grade Infra Red camera so the results should be very accurate. My dad is certified in operating as he took a 1-week course of Infra red training. THANKS to Tradic from www.rage3d.com for hosting the pics.

HERE YA GO, enjoy
IR PICTURES
Normal Pics of the card:
Radeon Card

------------------------------------------------------------
First 2 PICs : (NORMAL & Load)

SP01 is the Rage Theatre Chip
SP02 is some unknown transistor
SP04-05 are the RAM CHIPs
SP03 is the Underneath of the Radeon Core

If u ever wonder Y ur card acts weird in a poorly ventilated case, here is the answer!! If you wanna pic up that toy, go to www.flir.com

Heh. Those are nice pictures.

Do you have a normal camera, It would be really great to relate the hot spots to the actual parts of the board etc. I know you've labeled them, but I just like pictures.

Don't worry about the motherboard - that's the CPU power supply getting nice and hot. Those transistors are rated for a core temperature of 175C, so they're not even close to overheating.

Then you are fvcked.

I asked the same question when I started work at a TV station and got that as an answer :D

But otherwise those temps are interesting and really shows what temperatures todays PCs churn out. Just remember: it gets worse with every development cycle!

Sweet pictures. It would be neat if you could time lapse some photos together starting from your PC being powered off, through bootup then through a few minutes of intense gaming. Then, turn the photos into an animation.

Usually people find the temps go down slightly with the side of the case off. Imagine what it might have been like if the side of the case was on. Maybe even a couple more degrees hotter
