InfoWeek 8800 article

I am not sure how far this will go. Considering that, so far, this is just a driver issue, he might get damages. Not sure he will get class action status. It does prove that not saying anything is worse than disclosure.

What I don't get is that the PVP in the 6800 was really broken and never got this attention.

Maybe that's why NVidia has been sitting on those drivers... because the cards are just not compatible! Still a very efficient card anyhow, now that NV has revamped the IQ on their cards. Would be a shame if this were true.

I dont get it, My 8800 GTX has been running with VIsta home premium 64 happily for quite some time now. I'm still having problems in STALKER but that is not nvidia related. Why cant people just realize that living on the bleeding edge of technology whether it be software or hardware will be painful. After all, it isn't called bleeding edge for nothing. When Xp came out I stayed away for over a year cause I didnt want the hassles, this time around I have 2 different rigs so I enjoy the best of both worlds.

Oh man some people. I've never had any 8800GTX issue on Vista Ultimate 64-bit besides couple reboot here and there (not from crash; but driver re/installation). Freakin' 100+ hours troubleshooting? that's a lot of man hours...

As I remembered correctly; nVidia released 8800 series stated as "Windows Vista Ready" but not "Windows Vista Certified". In case of the "Windows Vista Ready"; it is a work in-progress in term of drivers.

By the way, isn't there such a thing called "returns"?

I call BS on your statement. Nvidia has had numerous issues with Vista and thousands of complaints. The reason I am not using vista is due to the issues with numerous games.

As much as you might hate this, consumers want toasters and microwaves. If it is for sale, it is an appliance. Bleeding edge is not an excuse to the consumer. Otherwise, it should come with a warning label, just like anything the FDA regulates.

We are enthusiast. We understand this. But the retail market does not treat you, me, or the 90 yo grandmother who has never seen one, but is buying a computer any differently.

the thing about it is: a graphics driver issue WILL NOT HARM OR KILL YOU, we really do not need a warning label, only for the n00bs.

Actually, they can. Some games now come with a warning for folks with epilepsy. ;)
