Informal polls: Yard signs and local school votes...

Let's hear them (if you have them). I did an informal count during my last two nightly walks (started walking and lost 52 pounds since February, yay me!). I counted the signs in my neighborhood and then counted the signs in an affluent neighborhood. Both neighborhoods are well over 90% white. My neighborhood has a mix of young and old since it has two elementary schools located less than 1/4 mile from me.

Results:

My neighborhood:
Obama: 10
McCain: 16

The affluent neighborhood ($500,000 to multi million dollar homes - executive and estate sections - some gated) seems to have a much older base. Again, about 95 or higher% white (informal observations).

Obama: 2
McCain: 23

In 2004, Kerry had more signs than Bush, but there are fewer signs overall this year (from what I can tell) than in 2004. Almost everyone had a yard sign in 2004. Very few have them now.

As for the school poll, the elementary school where my daughter attends had a vote and Obama won rather handily. School kids tend to vote the way their parents vote and the partents tend to be younger for elementary school children. Not suprising either.

How about yours?

I would assume McCain, no? (considering that is above the national average and usually goes to the GOP)

Yes, my county is very Republican. To the point where we have really shitty local representatives because it's almost an automatic win.

Predominantly McCain/Palin around this area. This is texas we are talking after all, go figure. I sure hope the result after all the dust settles next week breaks their heart

I see a healthy mix of Obama/Biden and McCain/Palin signs around Birmingham and Tuscaloosa. However, when I visited Mobile recently I didn't see a single Obama sign. This surprises me as I know of a lot of progressives in that area, but the whole abortion thing has a stranglehold on politics in that area. This is why dems have so much trouble in an area that should otherwise be theirs.

I haven't counter, but I've only seen McCain/other republican candidates yard signs in my/neighboring towns, except one house down the road that still has a Ron Paul sign out.

I live in the weird republican area of NJ, though.
