If I connect an HDMI<--->DVI cable from my laptop to the Infocus DP70 projector, will it work? M1-DA (P&D) seems to be some kind of DVI varietal but I don't know if it will accept output in this way. I'm looking at these two cables on ebay:

10' says supports 1080p

6', has more pins (?)

LP70, right?

The M1-DA port it DVI-I plus USB I think.

You may need a special adapter to go from M1 to one of the standard video connection types.

I don't know if a DVI connection can go right into the M1 port.

EDIT: Looks like M1 is physically larger than DVI?

Yeah, LP70. Thanks.

Looks like I'm gonna need an M1 to HDMI cable for this. Just sticking my nose in back of the PJ it didn't look like the connector was bigger than DVI. I didn't know what I was looking at at the time (Sunday evening, 4 days ago now), just took a pretty good look. It looks pretty much like DVI.

This one looks cheap enough but I'm not sure it will work. I figure it probably doesn't in spite of the "M1" in the listing.

I'd suggest just getting one from monoprice that specifically states M1 to HDMI.

Here's a picture of the size and pin difference between M1 and DVI.

Thanks. I'm going to suggest to the owner of the PJ to buy it. The only use I would ever have for it is to connect to her PJ. OTOH, she might be able to connect to other HDMI output. Besides, she has way more money than I do. That stuff at Monoprice looks pricey to me.

It's still under $15 shipped for a ~6 foot cable.

Can you please link me that item? Thanks!

PS I presume I could pick it up B&M and skip shipping fees.

You mean pick it up from monoprice directly?

Here's a 15 foot that's cheaper base price, but I didn't check shipping

EDIT: You might want to think about just getting an M1 to HDMI adapter and using a regular HDMI cable too. This wouldn't leave you tied down to a specific cable length. I don't know if that makes sense for the situation though.

The monoprice cable here indicates that the PJ must be HDCP compliant:

HDMI to M1-D(P+D) 28AWG cable - 15ft

HDMI to M1 adapter cable for InFocus Projectors.

Easily connect new HDMI source devices to your InFocus projector (projector must be HDCP compliant).

-snip-

Is the LP70 HDCP compliant?

I believe that only matters if you're playing HDCP content (like blu-ray discs).

If you go to the Infocus site, you should be able to get the LP70 manual and then do a search for HDCP.

Thanks. I don't see the manual there but the specs just say it doesn't support HDCP:

I just ordered the 15' HDMI to M1-D cable at Monoprice:

HDMI to M1-D(P+D) 28AWG cable - 15ft

Funny the 15' cable is cheaper than the 10' one, guess the M1 aren't in demand now. While I was at it, I got HDMI---HDMI, HDMI---DVI cable and 3 RCA cables, all in the same shipment.

Hello there,
I understand that this post was on 2009. But I have LP70 projector and would like to connect to blu-ray player.

Muse,
Please let me know whether you are successful in using the cable from monoprice and able to display from Blu-ray player. Thank you for your kind response.

Regards,
