Infocus 5000 projector, Pics? etc

I was wanting to get a projector for the new consoles coming up, so I definately want it to be HD so I was wondering if anyone had this projector or some suggestions. And also if you have pictures of your own projector set up i would like to see it, if you dont mind so just post it up. Or if you dont have one and you know of some cool places with projector pics, post that too. I could only find one website with the infocus 5000 vs any other projectors or pics of it in action: HERE It looks pretty bright (1100 lumens) and that seems to be a very important part since i have played games like Halo (not halo 2, it sucks) on other projectors and it seems way too dark to see your opponents.

Thanks.

IT is SICK.

Although it does not ahve Farouja scalers, it still has great components

The key is that it is sharper than the pannsonic. This is both good and bad in that it is accurate, but the panny's blurriness acts like alaising...

It is expensive though.

thanks, so youve seen it in real life?, because i have alot of electronics stores near but only ONE (tweeter) has a projector set up and i think its like 15000 or something.

check out their websites for demo dealers....

if you are going to get a proj, you ahve to see them ,preferably side-by side.

People have comapred the panny and the infocus, and the infocus is out ahead.

As long as you have good source, it should be fantastic.

I was saving up for a 5000 but then decided to wait for 1080p....

projector + ps3 is going to kick ass

btw check out avs foum...the topics on the 500 are quite cryptic as there are different conversations going on at once, but once you get to the meat of it you can saee hwo good they say it is...

thanks, yea I have looked at those pics too 🙂 , I'll check out those forums though

Oh yea, and that remote is nowhere to be seen lol

Most people have gone with the AE700 over Infocus, a FYI.

The AE700 and the new low cost 1280x720 DLP's are the talk of the forum.

The only reason people consider the 5000 is the higher lumen output allowing it to work better in semi lit rooms but you sacrifice some of the black/grey shadow detail which is a big non no at AVSForum.

thanks arod, nice pics and info. one thing i really want is it to be bright though, since gaming on a dark projector is pretty hard. I just wish I could see some in real life.

I have the Infocus 4805 and love this brand...had the X2 also but sold that one. I may have to buy the HD unit when the PS3/Xbox360 comes out and sell my current unit lol It never ends...upgrades

The light output on the AE700 is very good too... just the infocus is a bit brighter (but the brightness only matters when there is ambient light in the room). As long as you game in the dark or close to dark the AE700 will look plenty bright enough.

How do DIY projectors compare? I ask because it's not something I'd really use enough to justify a 4-digit pricetag, but at a few hundred I'm considering building one.

Ive only seen pictures really but I wouldnt think they would be nearly as bright as a decent manufactured projector, and brightness is the biggest draw back about projectors imo. Maybe someone else knows more about the DIY projectors

The Sanyo PLV-Z3 is a favorite for 1280x720p LCD. I choose this one based on the reviews that it's LCD panels are flawless (no banding, streaking, etc) I'll paste my comments from another post:

I just got a 1280x720p LCD projector and the image is gorgeous.

Gamecube and PS2 don't do it justice at all! But they still look incredible even though I'm projecting onto a flat off white textured wall (106" 16:9 screen is on the way) and using a composite RF cable (component and HDMI cables on the way as well.

The above images where taken with the PS2 playing a DVD on a composite RF connection on that flat wall... imagine when it's set up properly. Escaflowne in 4:3 mode with black bars on the sides and T2 in 2.85:1 with black bars on top and bottom.

Can't see the black bars? Thats how great this LCD projector is with 2000:1 CR and dynamic iris. Primary purpose was for gaming so I wanted the brilliant color that 3 panel LCD can provide, but movie performance has impressed me greatly as well.

Full white image shows not a single defective pixel and image is spotless, perfectly uniform, not dirty, banded, etc. This completely pwns plasma; only 1" thin screen, 12 lbs weight, 106", and no burn in, just have to replace a $300 bulb, not a $5,000 panel.

It's a Sanyo PLV-Z3 I picked up brand new for $1500. Should do me well till 1920 x 1080p becomes more popular.

PS3 will be native 1280 x 720p with HDMI output.... DROOL
