I know it had been posted a while ago, but I couldnt find it searching through the forums. I recall perfectly the clock speed and speed rating for the Clawhammer, and the estimated release period.

What Id like to know, is the bus speed for the motherboards (533?). I know also that the process will host the memory controller, will that use the upcoming quad data rate RAM, or is that further down the road? Will it have serial ata support, and if so, would you be able to get an IDE>serial ata converter for the current high speed hard drives out on the market? I recall 8X AGP support, I know the GF4 line supports it as well, what about ATI? Any info on the PCI slots, 64bit66mhz or 32bit33mhz? Any other leaked info or links would be appreciated.

ClawHammer is rumored to debut at 2.0GHz with an 800MHz FSB (other reports indicate a 2.4GHz core clock debut).

You probably alredy know that ClawHammer will debut at the model rating of 3400+, and that it will implement .13u SOI technology along with it's x86-64 extentions.

Besides what's already available in AMD's Hammer PDF, there's not really much else I can tell you.

Although there is one very recent and interesting ClawHammer story here.

Basically it says that .13u ClawHammer samples are being examined by AMD's "infrastructure partners" (which means OEMs and such I guess). Whether these ClawHammer samples are SOI or not is unknown at the moment (although they are very likely .13 micron, as the article indicates).

XBitLabs also mentions that, at the same clock speed, ClawHammer will be ~ 30% faster than the Athlon XP (this, they say, is unofficial, which means that the rest of the article is official maybe? ;)). Take the "30%" statement with a grain of salt though.....

As for the release date of the ClawHammer, you can expect it first quarter of 2003. The sledgehammer (this is the desktop version, clawhammer is the server version) will be released sometime near the end of this year. As far as your questions about 2xagp support, serial ata, 64bit/66mhz pci etc... are concerned - these are functions of the chipset and not the CPU.

Actually, it's SledgeHammer that is the server variant of the "Hammer" architecture and ClawHammer the desktop variant of the "Hammer" architecture.

ClawHammer is supposed to start shipping during the 4th quarter of this year. Recent indications put ClawHammer as actually available in retail channels during the 4th quarter of this year though (so not only might CH ship during the 4th quarter, but it also might be available for purchase as well). I'm guessing we'll be able to purchase ClawHammers by December, but that's just a guess based on official and unofficial info I've seen around the web and from talking with people.

SledgeHammer will debut during the 1st quarter of 2003 according to AMD.
