To find out whether a particular model of motherboard supports the Thoroughbred-core AthlonXP's, usually you would go to the motherboard manufacturer's site, find the model listed, and see what the manufacturer approves it for. If they don't say "Thoroughbred" in particular, look for boards that support 2200+ and higher.

At this point, some Thoroughbreds use the 266MHz bus while others use a faster 333MHz bus. Do you want to buy a board which has forward compatibility for 333MHz bus and eventually 400MHz bus as well, or will something that supports the 266MHz bus be enough as long as there's a cost savings?

In the 266MHz-only category, I think many KT266A boards, all KT333 and KT400 boards, and some nForce boards can support Tbreds that have the 266MHz bus. One of my favorites is the economical + good Asus A7N266-VM, which supports 266MHz Tbreds up to 2600+ (but not 333MHz-based 2600+). You can find it at www.asus.com.

In the 333MHz-capable category, I would get an nForce2-based board at this point. They're fast and will probably support the 400MHz-based CPUs as they become available. Some of them have pretty robust feature sets too. At this point, nForce2's closest competitor is the KT400 chipset. Some nForce2 boards to look at are the EPoX 8RDA+ and 8RGA+, the Asus A7N8X-Deluxe and the A7N8X.

Hope that helps :)
