I have always been an Intel person, but with the Thunderbird being so much friendlier on the wallet, I have started to look at the Athlon. I read recently about a Thunderbird B model CPU and wanted to know if this has been released, how can you tell which model the retailer is selling and what speeds the newer model is available in. Thanks for any input...

Actually it was the "C" model with 266MHz FSB. Is the 1.13GHz model out yet. AMD has it listed at $319 for dealers purchasing a large quantity. Can't find anything on Pricewatch...

I suppose that you're talking about the 133Mhz FSB Tbirds, they have not been released yet. :). I think they are gonna be released at 1.0 Ghz and above

OEM version of the 1.2Ghz chip w/ 266Mhz should be available on Feb. 15th, 2001. But as always these things are so hot that there's a waiting list in many online vendors. I'm trying to wait for these chips as well but you'll have to pay roughly around $300 for it. :)

1 dont get it. all 1.2's are unlocked anyways just drop the multiplier to 9 and that are 9 x 133 = 1.2ghz.What are you waiting for?

Which models are not locked besides the 1.2? I was thinking about the 1.13GHz "C", would the 1.1GHz be the same? Are the 850MHz locked? What about overclocking that to 133MHz? How much longer after the 1.2 is the 1.13 due out?

would like to get a official 133Mhz 1.2T-bird instead of those with the 100Mhz. I'm just picky but who knows the potential of the new chips. Trying to hit that 1.4-1.5 spot if you know what i'm saying. Its not much a wait just couple more days :)
