Hope you don't mind post like this but wanted to make sure.

Asus P4S333
P4 1.6a
256 mb pc2700 333 cas2
Antec 350w ps

This is my first time buying a potential overclocked system without it being tested. Wish me luck 🙂

Also are Antec power supplies good?

One last question, should I wait for the p4 price reductions coming up?

Thanks,
EJ

I believe I heard May 16th as the price cut date. If you don't mind waiting for 5 weeks, you could probably save a few bucks. I'm not sure how long it will take prices to drop, since places like Newegg surely have a stock of Intel CPUs that they paid current prices for, and I doubt they will sell them at a loss, know what I mean.

Might want to consider a Antec 400w PS..higher combined 3.3v and 5V rail..not as important for the P4..but the more watts now less frustration later as items become more power hungry..I made this mistake last year went with a 300w not a 400w PS and wish now I spent the extra....

Actually, the price cuts are slated only to affect the P4 1.7Ghz and more., not the 1.6A's.

And besides--you're getting a 1.6A and the Sis board... man, that thing can easily be overclocked to 2.2Ghz +.

And for only $135/1.6A, that's nothin' to sneeze at. There's no reason to wait....just get it and enjoy!

Yeah I am a little worried about the ps I bought since I had to settle on one I've never heard of but did have 23 positive reviews. The Antec one I was going to buy had a good 3.3v 5v rail but went outta stock before I could order.

Oh well 🙁

I just checked and they have the Antec PP412X for only $64. It's a better ps, 40A@5V, higher 12V rail, and the combined 3.3V+5V is 245W. What's an extra $18 in the long run? 🙂

actually on a P4, the 12v line is the weak spot due to amperage usage.
overclocked P4As use alot of amps!

even my 430w enermax gets a serious workout.

Sweet

what ram are you getting ?

Cause I got KingMax PC2700 from newegg and it was CAS 6.. and I got a stick from googlegear that is CAS 5

Well I don't want to take a chance that the ocz 2700 is just 2100 oc'd. So I rma'd it (easy, thanks Newegg!). I picked up s0me samsung ram that actually states it's not overclocked 2100 ddr.
