Infinity vs. Polk Audio (for my car)

I was able to get a hookup on Infinity and Polk stuff.... (last edit, i swear)

Infinity
AMP: Infinity 7541a - $135 (111w per channel x 4 channels)
FRONT: Infinity Kappa Perfect6.1 - $155 (6.5" Components)
REAR: Infinity KAPPA682.7CF - $58 (5x7)
Total = $348


Polk
AMP: Polk C400.4 - $185 (75w per channel x 4 channels)
FRONT: Polk MMC6500 - $133 (6.5" Components)
REAR: Polk db570 - $46 (5x7)
Total = $364


Which setup would you go for?

With the infinity setup, the amp only puts out 75w per channel, while the MMC6500's seem to need 125w/channel continuous.... I could just get the amp from infinity with the Polk's....

Uhm, yes, why?

When i said $$$ for the pair, i meant two boxes of speakers (i.e. 4 speakers). Not gonna list the price per actual speaker

I personally prefer the laid back polk sound. BAs are too bright for me.

I actually thought the opposite... The polk's seemed brighter to me, with the BA's showing a little more midrange...

Just making sure, I've seen more than a few occasions where someone got twice as many speakers as they needed.

Well believe me, if Klipsch sold car audio speakers, i would be shelling out whatever it would cost

In general I prefer polk as a brand, but it depends on the actual speakers. I'd have to listen to both sets to give any sort of opinion.

Get the one which has better sound quality. You will be kicking yourself in the arse when you get the cheapos and hate the quality. I could never go back to the quality of the old system.

I have a dilemma though, I just got a 05 Liberty and my old car system's speakers wont fit in there because the 4 main speakers are 6" and the ones in my are 5.25" fronts and 6"x9" rears (both aftermarket, infinity fronts boston rears), I also have a $500 deck and it wont fit until I find an adaptor plate. Another problem is the amp/sub and keeping it anchored in the back of the Liberty.

I'd recommend Boston Acoustics speakers. I was looking at MB Quart and Focal to power my fronts and finally decided to go with the Boston Acoustics Z6 speakers. They sound great to my ears and all my friends who've listened to my car sound system were impressed.

i've listened to both.... The BA's were a little crisper, the Polk's a little brighter...

Since it wont sound as good in my car, i just dunno if i can justify 2x the price.
