Having 100+ FPS on average in Tomb Raider @ 4K, holy....

Can't wait for 20 nm Maxwell, we might be able to get 2x of the 980s(if the 800-series are the 28 nm) and do the same or better.

In other words, something actually affordable to most mainstream enthusiasts.

Tom's is a joke, though.

When nVidia releases their top 20nm it's not going to be "affordable". They are charging $1100 for the top single 28nm now and that's years after 28nm being released. Unfortunately, AMD is paying attention. They aren't likely to be much cheaper either.

Anything in particular in the review that leads you to say this?

This thread is not about NVidia.

Two more reviews from very good sites.

http://hardocp.com/article/2014/04/29/amd_radeon_r9_295x2_crossfire_video_card_review

http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphics-Cards/Radeon-R9-295X2-CrossFire-4K-Quad-Hawaii-GPU-Powerhouse

[H] found poor scaling with QF in BF4 MP, but PCPER found excellent scaling in SP.. still, >70 fps average at 4K with ultra and 4x MSAA in 64 MP is pretty beastly.

As for the games, seems that when games already run fast there's poor scaling: Bioshock especially. Generally very good scaling across when needed, ie. low fps (except for Metro LL). Still is an ultra niche setup.

What this does show, is that 4K with 4xMSAA (not that you'll need it at such high PPI) is achievable in a lot of games with around 3 times the power of an R290X. So next-gen stuff, 2 top cards should be able to handle it.

Apparently they are not paying enough attention since the 295 is half the price of the Z. :whiste:

Well they've pulled the Z... for now anyway. Something appearing as a good value compared to a completely overpriced (and apparently under performing) product like the Z is nothing to brag about though. All 295x2's are still showing in stock at Newegg. I can't believe that there are large stocks of such an exclusive item. I can only venture a guess, but I don't think they're selling.

A U$500 premium over dual 290s is just too much I think.
