Infinity Kappa car speakers

Before I spend the money on some, I have owned 2 pairs before.

I like them, and I think they sound clearer than Alpines.

Does ATOT have any other suggestions?

LOL, I read Infinity Koopa Car speakers. Mario Kart? WTF? Why does Koopa Troopa have car speakers, and why do you need infinity of them. HAHA!

are we talking component speakers here? I have JL Audio XR653i 3 way speakers in the front and Diamond Audio D661 in the rears. Both are really good. But they require some juice to sound their best.

Both will be similar in quality. But what sets JL off is their rubber surround around their tweeter. Normally all metal dome tweeters sound really harsh but they are the only ones which can get close to 20kHz. Silk dome tweeters sound smoother but they cant produce the higher frequencies. Both infinity and JL has metal dome tweeter. But JL has a small rubber surround around...sort of suspending the metal in air. This way JLs dont sound as harsh. And let me tell you, it works. My Diamonds are a lot harsher than my JLs.

All comes down to your personal preference...what kinda sound you prefer

Whats a good price for a pair of 6.5's?

Go to JLaudio.com. Find the pair of speakers you want (stick with XR series). check on ebay. You'll get the cheapest prices there.

If you want the best, there are elite brands. You basically mentioned the Viper of speakers.

Focal, Rainbow, Diamond, etc are among the elite

I'd be willing to bet there's nothing better than the high-end Diamond Audio models. That is the hexacones and D9s.

Diamond Hexes are really good. But they are a class above what OP is looking for, i think. But there are some really good brands out there...Focal, Dynaudio, MBQuart, etc.

If you're looking for speakers, I'd go infinity or Diamond. I never really liked the JL sound in terms of speakers, but for subs? JL or XXX all the way.

Depends on which line of speakers you're talking about within each brand. Diamond's D6 series is comparable JL's XR. I think the JL sounds better. But another big factor is what kinda amp you have driving those speakers.

OP, i hope you're not planning on running these speakers straight from the headunit. You need some juice to get these speakers going

Yeah I'll be running these just through a head unit.

If that is the case am I just better off getting the kappas?

hmm, then there's no point getting speakers with RMS power rating of 100 watts. What headunit do you have?

Get some more juice! It only gives you more room later down the road to upgrade...unless you're not looking to upgrade, but you're probably looking to upgrade aren't you?

There are many that are better. It all depends on how deep you wanna dig, whether or not you're willing to buy off the internet, and (to be frank) how geeky you want to get.

If you do want to take it to that level, you'll be looking into brands like Focal, Dynaudio, Boston, CDT Audio, Cadence. Or you can go super-geeky and, like me, use raw drivers from Peerless, Adire, Focal, Tang Band, and so forth.

If you can find a specialized car stereo shop, check out Focal polyglass or polykevlar components. I used to be kind of a car audio snob and bought the best i could afford so my setup consists of:

In my integra:
Focal polykevlar k2 6.5 components powered by PPI 2x100 amp
Eclipse 8443 deck with 8v preouts
2 IDMAX 12"subs in a 2.5 c powered by 2 jbl 1200.1 mono amps
130 sq foot of RAAMMAT (think dynamat, but better)

The Focals really sang, they blew my infity kappas and boston acoustics away
