Just wondering if there are any companies that are modifying the G35. I'm interested in buying a turbo car and the stock G35 doesnt seem like it will have much pep. I'm looking to test drive one this weekend to see how I really feel about it.

Wait a second - you haven't even driven the car, yet you're making all of these assumptions that it isn't fast?

Get a IS300 and turbo that :p
It'll be cheaper to purchase not to mention.... 2JZ is solid as a rock.

Well I've read performance reviews. Its "peppy" but I want a bit more performance! Also, people are complaining about 350z handling, isnt this car basically the same platform?

Base Number of Cylinders: 6 Base Engine Size: 3.5 liters
Base Engine Type: V6 Horsepower: 280 hp
Max Horsepower: 6200 rpm Torque: 270 ft-lbs.

Much more hp/torque and you are going to have to hit the brakes after 10 seconds because any longer and you would be going to jail (I got that from Jay Leno)

2JZ? Is that the engine type? How much hp does an average turbo on it crank out? How well does the stock tranny handle more power?

you could buy the Greddy TT kit

Any companies you know of that would install one? Or would I just have to find a good local garage?

Greddy TT kit sucks... too many engines blown

Get an APS or Turbonetics kit

Also, if you want to supercharge, i think Vortech is pretty reliable.. I know HKS makes a SC kit for the Z, probably make one for the G too

The 2JZ in the IS300 and non-turbo Supras is different than the 2JZ in the TT Supra. So don't expec the same solidness.

The difference between the 2JZ in the IS300/Nonturbo Supra and the Supra TT is similar to the difference of the VG30 in the J30/nonturbo 300zx and the 300ZX TT. The NA version has a higher CR, different valves, cams, oil pump, etc. It won't hold up to boost nearly as well.

I test drove both the sedan and the coupe last weekend and both felt very robust. Then again I'm use to driving a full-size truck so I guess most things would feel robust in the acceleration department in comparison. :(

well Performance is a concern, but I just want the car to be a thrill to drive and look somewhat classy while doing it. Other less beautiful cars I'm looking at are the wrx sti and evo 8. I'm basically working with a 30Kish budget.

The sports car I'm used to driving is a Viper, so my sport standards a bit high. The thing is its just not practical to have a Viper as a daily driver in any big city unless you have great parking facilities. Thats why it has to go into storage and I need something else!

0-60 sub 6.0

1/4 ~ 14.2-14.4

not exactly slow

but not the fasting thing either

if you want speed get a C5 / STi/ Mustang GT/ Cobra

if you are willing to spend the price of a new G35 coupe + twin turbo kit + installation you are almost headed into M3 territory (base in high 40's)

if you really want to get serious just get a C6 Z06 which is a basically a 65K supercar

edit: didnt realize budget was only 30K and didnt realize you drove a viper

anything you buy is going to pale in comparison (with the exception of a corvette)

imo i would look into something luxurious since you already have a viper

It's a great car (Legacy GT). 250 HP, 2.5L, AWD, and added luxury. A little slower than a WRX, but not much.

Anyone know of any website that would have some good performance numbers/reviews? I seem to be unable to find my motortrend box. (just moved)
