"boy racer wannabes?" the evo has the second-most advanced drivetrain in the world, next to the skyline. it's a proven car for ANY condition. if you wanna talk about cars for "boy racer wannabes," i suggest that you think about the RSX, civic si, svt focus, spec-v, etc...
I don't give a sh!t what kind of drivetrain it has in it. It still a Lancer/Mirage tricked all to hell. The Evo is for the young-type that have a short attention span...the Nintendo generation
NFS4 - wouldn't that apply to the civic si, the ITR, the spec-v, the wrx, the focus, and the toyota celica(it "looks" fast)?
Exactly. They are all aimed at the 20 something crowd
and how old are YOU? do you ever criticize any of the others? if you can't get excited about the evo, you should check your pants.
Actually, I've criticized them all. Especially the Spec-V, Focus, Civic Si and WRX. The point is, you can't compare the G35 to the Evo b/c they're two completely different types of vehicles.
yup. exactly. if you want balls-out performance, get the evo. if you want refinement, get the g35.
You're still not seeing the point here. A person shopping for a G35 wouldn't even consider a Evo and vice versa. They appeal to two comletely different mindsets.
NFS4 is right. Not to mention, the g35 is 10x better looking than the Lancer.

EVO is a nice sports sedan for racing or autocross. But for daily driver it isn't all that good. If you just drive it as a daily driver, the EVO 7 part is only going to make a difference for 5 minutes in a year, and for the other 500 hours you spend in the car it will just be a Lancer.
G35 you get good performance and excellent interior, stereo etc all year round.

I finally agree with NFS4 on a few points, they both aim for differnet purposes.

But the EVO isn't a boy-racer car...its a track car! Built for outright speed on the track...any kind of track. It's like the Integra Type-R..a race car toned down just enough to be legal on the streets. IMO, it would be a waste of a car to drive those on the streets. That said, the EVO will be toned down for the NA market..so it will just be a WRX..except uglier.

Remember the dude who took the spy Maxima pics on the freeway? He got pics of the Lancer EVO in the same area...except this time the driver was cool and they had a little contest...its just about as fast as a WRX..maybe a tad faster. Of course the Maxima that the dude was driving was S/Ced so..thats how he was able to keep up with it.

That all said...if I had the money...I would have both...if I could only choose one...it would be the EVO since it has AWD and I live in Canada. If i was in warmer climates...G35 Coupe baby!!!

no, you're not seeing the point. a person shopping for a g35 ISN'T looking for balls-out performance. they're looking for something refined yet fairly fast. a person shopping for the evo isn't looking for "refinement;" they're looking for an EXTREMELY well tested performance machine.

So we have to like the car no matter what? Yeah, right. I dont like mitsu, so why would i like the car? Certain brands turn me off, and that is certainly on of them.
no, you don't have to like the car. but saying that a $16,000 camaro can take it is just flat-out ignorant. and someone who is only concerned with straight-line performance.

Go back and read. A person shopping for a G35 isn't in the market for a EVO. That's what I've been saying and why I said that the comparison was stupid.

yeah it is. and i agreed, and stated what a shopper would look for in an evo and a g35. then he "disagreed" by pretty much restating the same thing.

Iono about someone never considering both cars. I think zaku is considering both cars, and so am I.

True, they're in different markets, but then it doesn't mean they can't both be considered for the next car. I'm 18 and I want something fast, but then I also want luxury. I'd be perfectly willing to get the evo OR the g35 if one or the other was like 5-10k cheaper then the other, but then I just don't like Mitsubishi or the design of the EVO over the G35 that much.

I don't wanna start flaming, but hten some people can considering some very different things for the same job.

I just wanted to say that I still wouldn't get the G35. I'd get the 350Z with the LSD. ;)
