Infineon PC133 on generic PCB's

Hi, I have a coupla questions.

1) How do I verify a real Infineon made SDRAM? I mean, is there the word "Infineon" written or etched in the PCB itself (ala Samsung)?

2) Are Infineon HYB39S128800CT-7.5 chips on no-name PCBs as good as the authentic ones? What are the possible drawbacks (any quality issues)?

Many thanks.

1) www.infineon.com
click memory, then sdram or ddr sdram modules.
like Samsung, authentic modules have own part number, different from the chip's part number.

2) the chips on no-name are same as authentic ones, but the quality of the whole product is a question.

The only drawbacks concerning memory that I've found is that "generic" RAM often will not run at faster timings as reliably - CAS 2.5 DDR RAM might not be capable of CAS 2 setting.
It might also have trouble reaching the higher overclock frequencies as real name-brand RAM. I say "might" though, as chip quality does have a significant impact as well. Lousy chips on the finest PCB will still yield lousy RAM.

King, what you say is true about the brand part nos. but I don't have any first hand experience with a true Infineon module (the closest I have gotten is with a Mushkin REV3+, but everyone and their mommas know that doesn't count!). 😉 Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is, take the example below:

Samsung PC-2700

One can easily spot the word Samsung on the PCB. Now, I was wondering if this is also applicable to real Infineon chips. So basically, if a stick uses Infineon memory chips but doesn't have any sorta markings on the PCB (that relates to Infineon), is it automatically classified as "generic"?

Jeff, after doing some more sleuthing, I'm convinced that the overall memory stick is only good as its weakest link.

Thanks to you both, cheers.

This may not be real Samsung.
Real Samsung module is like real Micron module, has a sticker with Samsung's module part number.
You can take a look of real Samsung module at Newegg:
such as this one
I have never seen a real Infineon, I believe it should also have a sticker with module part number.
They can't print part number on the pcb for different modules, so they should be just using sticker.
