i need to update the core driver for my monitor. i got the driver from the support site and all it is a .inf file. i need to replace the windows one with this one for my new monitor HANNS G JW199D.

looking around for the location to put the .inf but im stumped.

* Device Manager -> Monitors

* Double-click whatever entry you have for your monitor

* Driver tab

* Update Driver

* Point to the .INF file you downlaoded

Or INF files can be right-clicked and there's the option to "install". That ought to copy the file to the right place, then you can just do the automatic driver update and let Windows find the proper file.

The folder incidentally is c:\Windows\inf.

Assume you had 2 monitors, how does Windows know which monitor the driver applies to?
