Ok so I upgraded from ME to 2k. I think I may have messed up but I don't know where. I cannot reinstall 2k, well I can but I dont want to it will take forever! Here's the deal...

I go to install my latest video drivers (after installing latest directX)

and my computer tells me

INF ERROR
Video Driver not found

So yah, and thats causing some programs particularly 3dsewhatever... the benchmark thing not to be able to install. Can anyone help, I think I messed up some .inf file when I was trying to get the right drivers, and I have no clue how to fix.

Radeon VE 64mb is my vid card ATI :(

It a hangup with the installer...not directly ATI fault...

Get the latest drivers and attempt the automated install (which you've already done)...

then goto device manager and select 'update driver' for the graphics card. Browse to the directory where the ATI driver files were unzipped/uncompressed and select the INF file. Press OK and let it do it's thing.

Now...redo/complete the automated install...which finish setting the up the driver setting software under the "Display Settings" mini-app. This should work just fine.

I actually had to do this on my winXP install. Cheers

Are you using the win2k video drivers and is the card a built by ati or a powered by ati card. The catalyst drivers are different for built by and powered by cards.

Ok, I tried what you guys said hasn't worked. Ive decided Ill just reinstall Windows2k... but I had problems with that earlier. Last time I tried to do a clean install it just installed another copy, and then it got really messed up from there. So my question is how do I get to Command Prompt using Win2k so that I can do a Format C: and then a clean install?

Upgrading from ME to 2K is a bad idea in the first place. The kernels are completely different. ME is based on the 9x core; 2K is based on the NT core. Just format and reinstall. It is not a good idea to mix two operating systems that are so radically different in just about every way including memory management and hardware communications (Due to the HAL). A fresh install of 2K is a wonderful thing.
