Hello all,

Anyone have any suggestions/pointers on how to fix some cosmetic flaws on a DD (99 Cavvy) on the cheap?
The car is very sound mechanically and drives well (or as well as a Cavalier can 😛 ) and I'd like to keep it another 5 years or so before moving on to something better.

A little rust under the passenger-side door, paint chip at the top of the driver-side door, minor ding on the passenger-side door, very small and thin (~1 inch) scratch on the back bumper.

Many TIA!

Don't worry about it; that looks about right for a 99 cavalier. It is what it is, a 10 year old cheap beater that gets you from point A to B.

True, but I wouldn't mind sprucing it up just a little. How bad is that rust going to get though? Iowa roads are terrible in winter 🙁

wat? Malarkey = Jabbernyx? 😕

sand blast and re-paint the rusty spots. knock out the ding with a hammer and a block of wood. sand and re-paint the bald spot. taking care of the rust now will prevent it from getting too much worse.

Aack! That's what I get for letting my cousin logon to AT 😛
The car is Malarkey's. Mine's an LS V8.
Sorry about that guys. Jabbernyx forgot to logoff and I just blindly proceeded to post 😛
Don't have experience with bodywork, how much $$$ does that look like?

Body work gets expensive. As far as the side skirts go, ignore them or for a very temporary fix, paint over them, nothing else you can do short of sanding it down and repainting, which might not be worth it on a 1999 Cavalier.

The paint on the door, get some touch up for $10 and paint it over. Again temporary, but better than sinking actual money into sanding and painting it.

The door ding, forget about it.

It all comes donw to how much you really want to spend on a 10 year old economy compact beater.
