I am gonna return this Volcano 6cu+, eventhough I can sorta handle the noise.

I am going to go back and use my old Cooler Master HS. The only problem with the unit right now is the fact the default fan has crapped out. I want to get a decent and quiet fan that will not cost me more than say... $6.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Oh yeah, I'm cooling a Tbird 900... and i'm not overclocking it.

Wow, that's the greatest oxymoron I've ever seen: inexpensive, quiet, and good :) I think a Sunon or YS Tech would be your best bet.

I took the Taisol 60mm off my Volcano 6Cu and replaced it with a 80mm Panaflo 1A ($4.00 from www.mpja.com). I couldn't use the plastic adapter because my case is too narrow so I made 4 brass "L" tabs to hold the fan on. Completely quiet and just as cool as the Taisol. Another advantage, air is also circulated along the outside edge of the HS. The final chapter will not be written until I see how it does in the summer.

I have a TBird 1200. I also replaced the fan in my PS with a Panaflo 1A.

Oh, yeah, one last thing. Don't be afraid to experiment. As long as you have a good heatsink with compound mounted on the CPU you can play around with different fan combos. I just powerup and go into the BIOS page where I can monitor CPU temperature. After it settles down in a safe zone, I go into windows. If the temp is rising too quickly, just power down and no harm done.

Alpha 6035 with a very quiet Sanyo Denki Fan (H speed).

That setup can cool a 1500mhz, probably the most affortable quiet yet very efficent quality cooling setup you can get. ~$20

...oops just read your message, slowly, i got some spare Sunon fans for $5, YGPM.
