I just ordered an MX1000 for my work computer and I need advice on a new mousepad to replace my regular cloth one. I'm assuming that there are better surfaces than cloth for a laser mouse.

Any good ideas?

hmmm.. intersting

The few reviews I read really praised this mousepad, I might have to order 2 so I can use one at home with my razer diamonback. It also says that its compatible with the MX1000.

Another vote for the desk. As long the desk is clean, there really is no need for a mouse pad.

Yeah, my main concern is that my desk is often *not* very clean. I have a high-speed Ricoh scanner on my desk running most of the work day - If you've ever used a scanner for a few hours you know they creat alot of paper dust. I would have to dust my desk a few times a day to keep my mouse rolling smooth. With my cloth pad I just lift it up and smack it against my desk and all the dust flies out. kinda like beating a rug! Not very elegent for the workplace, but it gets the job done. This is why I am leaning towards a Func or maybe a X-trac. (hard surface)

Another concern is that my desk has some kind of rough-textured coating on it that would seem like it would wear out mouse feet really fast. (its not a real wooden desk).

Thank for the replys everyone - keep em' coming!
