Budget is a major concern. I would like to keep it between $400-500. Battery life and gaming is not an issue unless you count solitaire as a game.

The only thing she uses it for is e-mailing her family, looking up cooking recopies and playing DVD?s. It must be easy to use and reliable. Senior citizen eyesight leaves the smaller 8? notepads out of the picture. I wouldn?t want to get her anything less that a 13? screen, 15" or larger is preferable.

She is familiar with XP pro and Vista. It would be nice if it was light but anything less than 5 pounds should be OK. It will probably never leave the house. Were OK with Dell-HP-Toshiba-Acer as long as it doesn't fall apart.
HELP!

check office depot, circuit city and similar places. theres usually some 399 or 499 after rebate deals going on all the time. you can view the weekly ads online so you dont have to waste gas before you make a decision

dont forget the hot deals section!

and a few other deal sites are worth checking, theres usually a couple of laptops on sale each week, so finding something under $500 should be easy
