Just built my new gaming rig, love it, but, i need some headphones. Instead of buying some speakers and a mic and end up using my crappy phone earphones anyway, i thought i might aswell get a gaming headset. I really don't want to spend more than $30, and anything $20 and under would be preferred. I know "the sound quality wont be best" but I've been using phone earphones because my other ones broke, you can't possibly get worse sound quality and I don't mind their sound quality. I just want a headset with decent sound quality and decent mic, I don't want too much. Any recommendations would be nice, thanks.

Plantronics has a couple either right at or under $30 like this and this. I used the USB one for awhile and it was fine. Not the best sound, but it works. I mainly used it on PS3 but it worked on PC as well. The gamer headsets typically are not that great for sound, and same for the mics. Well, not till you spend a lot of $$$. Regular decent headphones and a clip on mic will be much better, and around the same price.

I have the 367. Things are great for the cheap price. Feels great on my ears and the mic is not bad too.

367 is good, but you have to watch out, their mics are notorious for dying off in about a year.

I got one for free with Guild Wars and then lost it. Was a low end Logitech model but it was nice.

I recommend OP get familiar with Newegg, TigerDirect, and ZipZoomFly, cuz thats where most of our suggestions will come from anyway.

If he doesnt wanna research much than I would say most cheap Logitech items are actually OK.

I walked into walmart and walked out with a logitech USB headset for $20 that worked well for 2 years until I left it on my head while I sprinted away from the PC. I replaced it with a new Logitech but of a different style (goes across the back of the head instead of the top) and it is hideously uncomfortable. Almost anything gives acceptable voice quality if you're just running vent.

Desk mics are better. Headsets mostly suck as they skimp on both the microphone and the headphone portions in order to cut costs. Better to just get a cheap USB or even 3.5mm line-in desk mic. It'll work especially well if you use it with headphones because there won't be any echo (although they're pretty good at noise cancellation anyway).

I've seen Logitech 3.5mm desk mics for $7 and USB ones for $15.

Im pretty familiar with newegg, because thats where i chose the parts for my custom pc. I'll research a bit, but i really want just something basic and cheap, so i don't have to buy speakers and a mic, when if i bought speakers id be mostly using my earphones i have anyway.

And Thanks everyone but the first link childs posted: http://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-A...QN3K/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1302231338&sr=8-5 looks pretty good, and a nice price, and the reviews are spectacular, thanks for all the other help though.
