Inexpensive cooling for an AMD 64 3500 939pin OEM

how are you cooling that Opty of yours?

I'd spend a decent amount on a cooler for your opty & put your OEM AMD heatpipe HS that came with your opty on that 3500

Arctic Cooler 7 pro is cheap. The Scythe ninja is also good but twice as much.

Thats an interesting idea. I'm tempted to leave my opty the way it is though, it runs OCed to 2.5Ghz/core at 25C with the stock cooler. Figure if it ain't broken I shouldn't fix it 😉

I did find a Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro for $15. Do you guys know if that's a nice cooler and if the thermal compound it comes with is solid? Or should I pick up some artic silver?

25C is a nice temp. I'm assuming that is idle. What is it under load?

Low 40's under max load running dual Prime 95 for 8 hours. havn't run it in a while so I can't remember the exact number.

People much smarter than me performed some testing on the stock Opty 165 etc... coolers and they perform as well or slightly better than an XP-90. There was a thread in the forums a while back.

That freezer pro is a very good cooler. The paste on the bottom is the MX-1 paste which is very good as well. Some people have reported better temps with it over AS5.
