Hi
I'm getting my new computer soon and since I won't be playing any games or do any video (I'll use this computer only for audio recordings) I thougth Nvidia FX5200 is a good inexpensive card.
Is that a good choice, or is an inexpensive Radeon better? Does it even matter?
I just want not to pay too much, and not have any problems.
Thanks.

If you're not going to use any 3D applications at all, why bother even getting a separate video card?

For one, onboard requires a lot of CPU power..

Look for a fanless fx5200. Will run nice and quiet cuz you won't have to hear the fan whirring away.

You do realise that's PCIe only right? And that the 5200 is an AGP or regular PCI card, therefore we could assume that the OP is looking for an AGP card.

I'd say pick up something that doesn't have a fan, and you'll be set.

Oh, comon. I sold my 9000pro for $35, that will blow the socks off the fx5200. Not like it matters for 2d, but still, for $50 you could get something better in the fs/ft section.

Edit: maybe something like this new
