Shuttle makes a pretty good board with dual vga and the nforce2 chipset. I beleive it's the mn31n, but checkout newegg to be sure. I personally wouldn't buy anything at a computer show, due to warranty concerns. I get my stuff at newegg or Fry's electronics. Newegg can get you whatever you want in 4-5 days with standard Fedex super saver.

I just bought a cheap MSI KM4ML (KM400 chipset) that works great so far. It supports DDR only and up XP3000+ cpus.

If you absolutely want to buy the cheapest new computer possible, you can get the ECS K7SOM+ and K7SEM+ with integrated Duron CPU, video and sound.

I've never played with one of those before though :)

This is the board you want...pick up 256 MB PC3200 (winbond) buffalo RAM, and a AMD AThlon 2500+. At newegg.com this will run you $224 shipped. The MN31N has onboard VGA, onboard LAN, USB 2.0, Soundstorm(i think) sound - which is great - and is still a microATX board. When he wants to upgrade next time, drop another 256 MB PC3200 in and OC the Athlon to 3200+ speeds on stock cooler. Great setup.
